I am starting to think people who work at governmental agencies are rude. Had two bad encounters already. I shall just elaborate on one. This was what happened:
Caijie and I went job hunting at the airport. We wanted to check CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore) out. The staff at T1 referred us to the office at T2, 4th level. When we reached T2, we saw this sign: This way to CAAS Flight Worthiness and Airport Operations 4th level.
Thinking we had come to the right place, I asked one of the staff there,
"Hi, I'm looking for a part time job. Do you have any job vacancies available?"
She said, "Okay, you have to go to the Human Resource Department instead. Go down to the 2nd level and then walk to counters 6 and 7 and take the lift up to 4th level."
Thanks. So the whole airport wasn't interconnected.
So we walked an even longer distance to the correct place (finally). And then I asked again,
"Hello. I'm looking for a part time job. Can I be referred to the Human Resource Department?"
She replied, with a snarl, "Who told you that you can go to the Human Resource Department? You cannot go to the Human Resource Department on your own without booking an appointment."
"So how can I get a part time job here?"
"Tell me who referred you to the Human Resource Department?" Obviously, she wasn't answering my question.
"The staff at Air Worthiness and Flight Operations did."
"You cannot go to the Human Resource Department yourself. You have to go to our website and print the application forms and return to us by hand."
Which means I have to come down again? She's pretty absurd. We walked all the way just to find that place and then we couldn't even apply for the job. And how rude can she be, not answering my question.
Then I went home to check the websites. There were no temporary jobs available. Grrr.
By the way, prom was quite fun, looking at everyone dressed to the nines. But our seats were so far away from the stage that we couldn't see what was happening on stage clearly. And my class was split into two, and I happened to be allocated the table which we had to share with another class.

Pretense
I like the show 'Bump Off Lover'. It tells of how everyone has his or her own secrets. In this drama serial, people put on a flimsy facade, pretending to be who they are not.
This is synonymous with life. Have you ever chat up someone you don't really know well, like an acquaintance, communicating as if you have known each other for ages? And then, in the next occurence of you two meeting up again, your brain has completely washed out that previous memory. Or when you claim that you are great friends with somebody, but the truth is, that friendship is of little value to you.
There is always something to hide, even from your closest company. Unless you are Paris Hilton of course, who wasn't even bothered when her sex scandals leaked out to the public.

Huiwen's irritated looks at me today reflected how i behave when I am with my friends! Haha, sorry Huiwen. I need to use this example to explain my point. You're still a great friend of mine! =) Anyway, I shall stop being so irritable and easily offended! Sorry to all, especially AH clique, whom I've cast my irritated looks at.
Charlene, you did well today! You really deserved to be #1 instead. But I'm sure people do recognise your talent, so keep on singing~!
Why are people against the idea of getting a job that is well paid? I know a job should be backed by passion, but why not a combination of both? Sometimes, I just hope that I will be well off in the future, so I can provide for my parents, to let them lead more comfortable lives. Then again, there are so many examples of people who neglect their family when they are overwhelmed and blinded by wealth. I would never want to be like that.
Will the world stop fighting already? Be it civil war or war between nations: So many innocent lives claimed. So much unjustified grievances.
Peace out.

my friend seems to have alienated herself from me. perhaps she did it unknowingly, but i feel that i know nothing about her life now.
i've been thinking about this whole issue of university education. what to study is one of the most difficult choices to make in life, as it can make or break you. i hope to study business and management, but then i may not be cut out for it. the safest option seems to be studying something related to science. it's so hard to decide!
anyway, just found out that my maid is of the same age as my elder sis! how different are the lives they lead!

Etude XXXI
Etude XXXI - the last performance for our period of stay in NJCSB! I am really so thankful so everything turned out pretty fine, except for some minor crop ups here and there. I am going to miss the section, as well as the band a lot..
Percussion ensemble rocks! =)
Etude night was fun too. Lots of food. Didn't want to squeeze in the small room watching soccer. Thanks to all the juniors in percussion for the gifts. You guys spent a lot of thought, effort and $! =)
And now, we await V Nite - the finale.

Limit
I don't usually blog about unhappy stuff but when i do, it has reached a point when I need this outlet to vent my frustrations.
It irks me when you target that look of contempt on your face at me and yet you can laugh and joke around with other people. And come to think of it, I do not even know the source of your anger.
Why do you make people live by your ideals when you can't fufil them yourself?
I keep telling myself to let it go. After all, it's only a few more months to go. But it has happened time and again. I'm really worn out and tired.
Sometimes you make me want to just break down and cry.
Stop it. Please. Before I explode.

Birthdays
I'm always dedicating my posts to birthdays. This time it's for Joanne and my mum. =)
Happy birthday Joanne! Glad you really loved the dolphins. And the book! It's a sort of reused idea but there are carebears inside! Even though we spent merely 3 hours in Sentosa, we all had fun. That's all what matters! AH rocks
Happy birthday Mum! Love ya lots.. even if you don't read my blog. Ha!

some really random thoughts:
life is rather unfair. =(
i am not a good teacher. which i used to think i was. i made my sister cry when i taught her how to solve maths problems because i was being too fierce. =(
i don't really like blogging. =/
i never expected funtasia to be successful but it was! loved the great selection of yummy foods. =)
i never expected that many people in my class are willing to go to etude XXXI. =)
anyway, percussion rocks! i think we are one of the closest sections in the band already. whoopee. =)

just another day
To celebrate the anniversary of SYF'05 - 050505, I listened to our recording for Amazonia. It suddenly dawned on me that we have the ability to play beautiful music, teeming with passion, so long as we are one band in heart and spirit. Sadly, our slack attitude is hindering our progress in music making.
Funny how our instruments are all giving up on us, just when we spent a few hundred dollars buying less urgent items. The creaky bass drum and amplifier have undeniably reached the end of their lifespan of thirty odd years. Can you imagine -- they even have a longer history than any of us playing on them.
How do you guys out there treat your friends? We often make new friendships but it seems like there isn't much space in our hearts to fit every single friend from the time we were born until now. Unknowingly, we have broken many friendships as well, due to the inherent passing of time. Yet, if we just make the slightest effort to keep in contact, the friendship remains intact. Perhaps less strong, but still present.
my dear friend, it is a disappointment to hear you mouth those words. perhaps you didn't mean it, but it made us feel that our friendship was of convenience.

rrrhythm
percussion rocks because we helped advertise for etude. i really wonder if we can even sell at least three quarters of the tickets for etude. mission impossible. ha! the band really has lots to work on, not only selling the tix but our musicality as well. i hate the songs we are playing!!
i was just adjusting to the pace of doing homework when the frequency of staying back for band practices or sectionals increases. i never reach home before 7 p.m. sigh. and when i reach home, i eat, bathe and sleep. which means, homework that keeps piling up is not attempted.
socialising is just not my cup of tea. i really don't know what to say to a complete stranger. =x maybe it's due time for me to try.

saturday
today has been quite an exciting day!
i shall not elaborate on the band practice. =(
after lunch at the thai restaurant, we went to sim lim square. i had to find the price of a usb network adaptor. if i am not wrong, lot 1 really sells it much cheaper. i wonder why.
then ah la and i went to watch the outdoor marching band competition! so cooL, although it's not my first time watching it. i'm amazed we only missed one band although we thought we would be late. sometimes i wish i were in a marching band. imagine learning all the formation and playing difficult drum rhythms. and i can be tanned. ha!
after that was cjcsb concert. it was really nice! hmmm.. i wonder how well we can play by july 8th. ouch, less than 3 months away.

happy birthday!
happy birthday!
i seem to repeat these greetings once in a while and i would be spending my afternoons shopping for gifts.
nevertheless, i had fun celebrating yuqi's birthday! somehow sentosa seems to be my 2nd home. i can't believe i have gone there thrice in the last 10 months. the food was very nice! too bad we missed ben and jerry's. boohoo. someday i shall get to savour the much awaited delight. miss hanging out with yuqi, the loud and crazy girl.

nj dance was really good although they didn't win anything. the judges must be blind. =/ they should have at least got a third or something. marina square is a quite a happening place. i shall not frequent orchard anymore. but hey, i don't go to orchard that often in the first place. i am stuck at home.
in terms of preference of cuisine, i still stick to chinese food the most. i get sick of western food after a while. carl's junior isn't really that nice. anyway.
shuheng loves TWISTED clothes. especially at the front. you can imagine yourself where the twist is. oops.
i love caijie's birthday cake! it was heartening to see how she loved the present we gave her! kudos to jiamin.
i am happy to be happy. i think attitude towards everything matters a lot. =)

reunion dinner
nice dinner in cdans guilin restaurant. i always thought low class restaurants suck. surprisingly the food was quite nice though the portion was too small and the desert was horrible. i love my seniors! they are a fun bunch of people. our batch is much less enthusiastic than them. i wonder how we are going to attract more j1s to join the band.
happy birthday shuheng. glad you enjoyed your birthday because it means a lot to you! your friends are all very nice to you!
help. i don't even have the chance to use the computer.

i can live without the internet. my eyes start to get dry by 10 p.m. so i go to sleep early. without going online but also not getting any homework done.
i like the movie 'in her shoes'. because the storyline was quite similar to the relationship i hold with my elder sister. very true to life. sisters are like best friends. i totally agree cos my sister said i was her best friend. haha. but for that channel 8 9 p.m. show about the 3 sisters, i cannot relate to that. because the 2nd sister is evil.
celebrating ah sam's birthday was fun! the j2s and our j1s ernest and weiyi! two pathetic juniors. anyway, i love crystal jade. the food is really nice and it's not toooo expensive. i'm going to get broke if i continue celebrating my friends' birthdays the way i do now.
is the 18th birthday such a significant one in your life? I don't know what that would hold for me. i believe i will be rotting at home mugging. yuck.
friendship seems so brittle.
weary.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY!!
woohoo. very fun birthday celebration with bandies. cindy cried because she was so touched! aww. best buddies forever! i am sooo guilty that i didn't give in more effort in planning her birthday surprise. 10 years of beautiful friendship. woah. it's beyond words already. haha. my excuse for not writing a longer letter for her.

happy new year 2006!
no resolutions are going to be made because it's simply too difficult to keep. i kind of dread the new year because it means facing boring lectures and tutorials again! yucK.
i love disneyland. it makes me feel as if i were in a fantasy (minus the part which i nearly lost my wallet). despite the negative comments about hkdisneyland, i still enjoyed it a lot!
